Saxonville Hotel

Saxonville Hotel one of Whitby’s finest, was once the home of Margaret Storm Jameson, or at least a part of it was. The hotel is made up from a row of 4 houses and Margaret, lived with her parents in one of them. She studied at Leeds University and from there went on to teaching in the Working Women's College in London
She wrote more than 50 novels, her first being, The Pot Boils, was published in 1919. This was followed by many other works of fiction including a trilogy about a family of Yorkshire shipbuilders: The Lovely Ship (1927), The Voyage Home (1930) and a Richer Dust (1931). Other books include Women Against Men (1933), Company Parade (1934), Love in Winter (1935), and None Turn Back (1936).

Her Father a mariner was at one time master of the Saxon Prince, first steamer of the prestigious Prince Line and it was this ship that gave the hotel its name
