About Us and WHITBY
Alison and I first came here to Whitby some fifteen  years ago. We fell in love with the place at  first sight and the years between have only tended to deepen and strengthen that first love and if you would like to visit our wonderful town I am sure you will come to love it too.
The history of WHITBY alone is enough to fascinate most people quite apart from the wonderful views and sandy beaches. Did you know that the method of calculating the date for the celebration of Easter was set at the Synod of Whitby, a meeting called in 664 ad when the highest in the land made the decision to adopt the method which still is in use today. We are proud of the fact that Captain James Cook, the great navigator and explorer learned his sailing skills here at Whitby.
